Maude and Havana - our local, logo celebrities.

The first thing I wanted to share on my blog is the design of the Witte Belted Beef logo and how it came about. When I envisioned the logo I wanted a Belted Galloway graphic, Nebraska, and Est. 2020 in it somehow. The Nebraska and Est. 2020 were easy, either put it in text or use an image. The Belted Galloway graphic was a little more challenging. Let me tell you it is pretty hard to find Belted Galloway graphics. There are tons of cow graphics out there, just not ones with cute white belts. I brought this up to my friend/marketing director/web designer, Karissa. (I really do not know how I would have done all this without her.)  She suggested taking a picture of my Belts then turning it into a vector image for the logo. Best idea ever!

After a morning of taking pictures of my cows, I got a couple pictures that I thought might work. I turned the pictures over to Karissa and she got to work. We ended up bringing another graphic designer on board to help with the details.  After a lot of back and forth we were able to come up what I consider the “perfect logo.”  It is incredibly special to me that my logo is derived from a picture from my own Belted Galloway herd. Here you can see the actual picture that the logo was made from. I love every detail captured in the logo from the curves in the belts to the tags in their ears. It was amazing watching my dream come to life right before my eyes.

Now to introduce you to my little logo celebrities, Maude the momma cow and Havana the calf. Maude is an excellent cow raising two beautiful heifer calves, Havana and Jazelle, since she has been on our farm. Havana is a gorgeous black belted heifer that will be bred next spring and will hopefully continue as a momma cow here at Witte Belted Beef. Jazelle, one of the “supermodel heifers” (I will explain this later on), is a charcoal dun heifer and will hopefully follow in her momma and sister’s footsteps in the next couple of years.
